The weeks between Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Eve can be some of the loveliest times of the year. But let’s be honest: they can also be overwhelming.
There is so much to prepare, organize, remember and take care of. As moms, we often put our own needs at the very bottom of the list. We want to make the holidays special for our children and families, but sometimes we forget that we need to feel good, too.
This year, I have decided to do something a little differently.
Before the holiday celebrations begin, I want to give myself two weeks to focus on my health, nourish my body and establish a simple daily routine. And after New Year’s Eve, I plan to repeat the reset.
Not because I need another strict diet or a complicated wellness challenge. I simply want to feel good, have a clear mind and enough energy to enjoy my family and take care of myself along the way.
My Goal: A Clear Mind and a Sane Mom
My main goal isn’t weight loss, although that might be a welcome side effect.
What matters much more to me is my mental well-being.
I want to feel focused, energized and present. I want to have the patience and mental clarity to manage everyday family life without feeling constantly overwhelmed.
I believe that taking care of ourselves shouldn’t be something we only do when we have extra time. It should be part of how we care for our families, too.
And sometimes, that starts with something as simple as paying more attention to what we eat.
My Simple Daily Wellness Routine
For two weeks, I plan to follow this simple eating schedule. It gives me a little structure without making my days complicated.
9:00 AM – Freshly Pressed Juice
A glass of homemade juice. I will rotate between my favourite combinations of carrot, orange, ginger, turmeric, kiwi, apple, celery, pineapple and beetroot.
12:00 PM – Protein Spinach Smoothie
A green smoothie with protein, fresh spinach, vitamins, seeds and healthy fats. Something nourishing that is easy to prepare and enjoy.
2:00 PM – Freshly Pressed Juice
Another glass of fresh juice, choosing a different combination from the morning.
4:00 PM – A Balanced Snack
Something simple, such as fresh fruit with nuts or unsweetened soy yoghurt.
6:00 PM – Dinner
Three eggs prepared with butter, accompanied by vegetables.
This is my personal routine, not a prescribed diet or a complete nutritional plan for everyone. I will adjust portions and add food whenever my body needs it. Eating enough and getting the nutrients my body needs are just as important as keeping the routine simple.
Why I Want to Do This Before Christmas
I don’t want to wait until January to start taking care of myself.
By the time Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Eve arrive, I would love to already have a routine that makes me feel good.
And after all the celebrations, I want to return to it again.
I don’t see this as starting over or making up for holiday meals. There is nothing wrong with enjoying Christmas cookies, family dinners or a festive evening. I simply like the idea of having a gentle routine to return to whenever everyday life starts feeling a little too full.
A Little Reminder for Other Moms
If you are feeling overstimulated, tired or as though you have been running on empty, perhaps this is a good moment to think about your own well-being, too.
You don’t need to follow my exact schedule. You don’t need to drink the same juices or eat the same meals.
I’m not a medical professional, and this is not medical advice. It is simply my personal journey and a little inspiration for other moms who would like to pay more attention to their health.
Find your own rhythm. Choose nourishing foods you enjoy. Give yourself permission to make your well-being a priority.
And remember: the goal isn’t to become a perfect mom.
It’s to feel a little more like yourself again.
Because a happy, healthy and sane mom deserves to be on the family priority list, too. ❤️
With love,
Irene
